to combine lighting quality and energy savings without ignoring sustainability development."
- François Lecosse, Shell
EnergySave Sites (ESS): the group launched the programme for the renovation and reconstruction of the Shell sites in 2011. The aim is to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions at petrol stations in Europe.
PLuxSpace flush-mounted LEDs of two different colours create a cosy atmosphere in the café area (3000 K) and a more dynamic atmosphere in the shop (4000 K). Flush-mounted Maxos LEDs have been used for accent lighting on the gondolas. StyliD LED spots were used for the fixtures and banners. Finally, the dedicated LED Cooler and LED Freezer solutions for refrigerated fixtures made it possible to reduce the number of luminaires considerably and therefore reduce the total energy consumption too.The cloakrooms and bathrooms have been equipped with presence detectors to maximise the energy savings of the flush-mounted LEDs. Finally, in the technical rooms, where access is sometimes difficult, Master LEDtubes were chosen to equip the Pacific sealed luminaires.
The lighting project has allowed Shell to combine lighting quality and energy savings without ignoring sustainable development – a basic requirement of the project plan. In addition, the customer has benefited from Philips’ ability to implement a large-scale project. Therefore, the entire lighting system has been reviewed and switched to LED technology. The petrol stations have been totally equipped with LED luminaires, which allows a significant reduction in energy consumption (around 50%) and a significant reduction in maintenance costs.
