Floodlighting - for more pleasure in sports
For years, Philips floodlighting installations have been satisfying the demands of world's top arenas. These are venues for events like the UEFA Champions League, FIFA's World Cup and the Olympic
Games. Much more of our sports floodlighting work is focused on the mainstream - on those smaller grounds where lesser mortals play and train, and faithful supporters cheer them on. Each has its own environment and needs.
National level
Floodlighting for National league sport is hardly less demanding than at international level. It is simply on a smaller scale. Without a clear view of what is happening on the playing area, the players, match officials and general security can't give out their best.
Spectators want to follow all the action in an agreeable environment. They need a clear view of the pitch and surrounding area, without uncomfortable glare. When television and film crews cover these matches, they want lighting conditions that guarantee good colour picture quality and for the general views - the pan and tilt around the pitch and close-ups of both players and spectators that their viewers are waiting to see. The Stadium management wants adequate light to get the spectators in, the game played, telecast done and the ground emptied, all smoothly and without a hitch. They also need an effective standby system in case of lighting failure, and they have to meet all applicable safety requirements.
Regional, local and recreational
Public interest in sports is booming. More and more people are playing as well as watching. From the recreational level upwards - for fun, for health and for medals. Sport is a great and growing pleasure for people -and effective floodlighting greatly extends the possibilities.
Clubs in regional and local competitions look for the quality of their floodlights. The same goes for the recreational and practice pitches - whereby the quality of every sport is raised and the stars of tomorrow are nurtured. |
